Pratham Saxena's Journey to Becoming a Technical Content Engineer Intern at GeeksforGeeks
Table of contents
In this blog, I’ll share my interview experience for the Technical Content Engineer Intern role at GeeksforGeeks (GFG). It was a well-structured process consisting of multiple rounds, each offering its own challenges and insights. Here's a step-by-step recount of my experience:
Telephonic Round
The first step was a telephonic interview with the HR team. During this conversation, the HR explained the role, requirements, and policies for the position. Key points included:
The role required me to work from their Noida office.
An NOC (No Objection Certificate) from my college was mandatory if selected.
After explaining these details, the HR asked if I was interested in proceeding. Without hesitation, I said, "Yes, I’m interested." She requested my LinkedIn profile link and resume to be shared via email.
The next day, I received an email with a Google Meet link for the first round of the interview.
Primary Round
The primary round took place the day after the telephonic round. This round focused on coding and web development. It lasted for about an hour and included both medium-level and some advanced-level questions.
One of the tasks was to sort an array using the arr.sort()
method in JavaScript. While there were four questions I couldn’t answer, I ensured to remain confident, showcasing my willingness to learn and grow.
At the end of the interview, I asked about the results, and the interviewer mentioned that HR would communicate the outcome. Given my mixed performance, I was apprehensive about the result. But to my surprise, HR texted me shortly after with “Congratulations! You cleared the primary round of interviews.”
They informed me that the advanced round would be scheduled the next day with the technical team lead.
Advanced Round
The advanced round was a shorter session, lasting under 30 minutes, and was conducted by Mr. Sabyasachi Samadder, the technical team lead. His demeanor was supportive and encouraging.
Interestingly, he started by revisiting the questions I couldn’t answer in the previous round. I had anticipated this and came fully prepared, confidently addressing each question this time.
At the end of the round, the team lead mentioned that HR would contact me with the result. A while later, HR called to inform me that I had cleared this round as well.
She then asked about my availability for the HR round, and I requested it to be conducted on the same day.
HR Round
The final round was with Mr. Manikant, Senior HR at GeeksforGeeks. This round was more of a conversation about my aspirations and expectations from the role. He explained the roles and responsibilities for the profile, the rules and regulations of the organization, and details about the stipend.
Some perks of working at GeeksforGeeks that he highlighted included:
A 5-day work week.
Free meals provided at their office premises.
At the end of the discussion, he asked if I agreed to the terms. I happily accepted, and shortly after, I received my offer letter along with a joining date for the Noida office.
Takeaways
This interview process taught me the importance of preparation, confidence, and adaptability. Even when I stumbled during the primary round, I used it as an opportunity to learn and improve, which paid off in the advanced round.
To anyone preparing for a similar role, I’d say: stay confident, keep learning, and approach each step with a positive mindset.
Looking forward to starting my journey with GeeksforGeeks!
